My Mum barely remembers this and she is 64 this week, she married my Dad the week before the strike started and she thinks they would have been in rural Scotland for their honeymoon and therefore not watching television.

I have really enjoyed the final series of Poldark, sad this has now finished, but it did tie up all the loose ends nicely.

Poldark - loved the first series and now have four to catch up on! Luckily the second series is on Netflix, I bought the third for a fiver (streaming) on Amazon and I've got the last two recorded. I am SOOOO going to have a Poldark-fest this winter!!

I haven't watched all of the latest series of Who Do You Think You Are mainly because the celebrities haven't lit my fire and Mark Wright fits that view however I thoroughly enjoyed the episode and he actually came over really well and better than his thick wife. Imagine getting your genealogy back to a 17th century Spanish master swordsman who was tortured by the Spanish Inquisition for being a Jew. My estimation of him has increased slightly due to his desire to please his Grandad by giving him some answers to their ancestry.

I always quite liked Mark Wright, no airs and graces.

I am currently watching old episodes of The Bill on the Drama channel and they are so good. You forget how good this series was. We are up to series 19 in 2003 A big mistake by ITV to get rid.

Thanks Wendy, that looks interesting. I will certainly watch, a good cast.

It doesn't appeal to me at all Wendy. I loved the original with Christopher Timothy as James Herriot and Robert Hardy as Siegfried Farnon. Nobody could replace them IMO.

My thoughts too Wallis, but I'm definitely going to give it a go. I know there won't be new stories as they've all been told. I just hope they won't invent new ones and bollox it up.

I am just watching re-runs and can't bear the thought of a new version. Not sure if I will watch. Nobody can take the place of the original cast. IMO.

Why is everyone so obsessed with reboots which trash the original?
The Porridge remake totally trashed the 1970s original.

The Only Fools return in 2001 undid the great ending in 1996.
