I am so bored with everything that's on TV at the moment. There is no diversity. It's all crime and mystery murders it seems.
I have started watching old series of the above eras. Some are very dated but the stories are good. I've been watching Heartbeat and lately watched a couple of episodes of Tales of the Unexpected. Many of the actors are long gone, the fashions are dated but the stories are so good.
Saw Denholm Elliot and Joss Ackland in one episode of Tales of the Unexpected recently. Excellent .

We have Britbox and have enjoyed rewatching quite a few old shows lately including Van der Valk, Howards’ Way and May to December.

I have the whole Columbo episodes on a boxset and do find the NBC 1968-1978 series better than the ABC 1989-2003 revival. In the revival, Columbo became a clown, a total buffoon.

It is strange isn’t it. They won’t bring back The Bill saying it wouldn’t be realistic, but the schedules are stuffed full of fly on the wall documentaries or constant dramas featuring crime units.
The Beeb axed Holby City but Casualty and Doctors (filmed in separate locations) live on. Surely anyone who runs a business could have shown them ways to have kept the show and generate cost savings?
Magically they found the money to bring back Waterloo Road which is struggling get more than 1.6 million viewers per episode. Holby City was still getting double that towards the end.
Personally ITV should be forced via the Government to make more drama and comedy shows.

I wonder if the Neighbours Amazon revival will fall flat, only time will tell.
I always preferred 1980s and early to mid 1990s Neighbours, including the early years of the Kennedy's and Toadie. I feel the old Neighbours died when Helen Daniels died.

As soon as the steaming figures aren’t good enough for Bezos, it’ll be gone. Especially if costs spiral.

I think it will flop again. I still feel the year that Neighbours has been offscreen counts as a gap in the duration as the show officially ended in July 2022, and was saved several months later in Nov 2022 with a return in mid to late 2023.

The Good Life, Hi Di Hi, Are you Being Served, Rising Damp may look slightly dated now but still very funny. Dad's Army still very funny but does not look dated as it was set in the 40s anyway. Don't tell him your name Pike.

Fawlty Towers, Monty Python. Cleese would say the comedy would have to be woke now. Hence why a Fawlty remake will not go down well.

Just watched tonight on BBC iPlayer...
Blankety Blank with Les Dawson... Big Break with Jim Davidson...
Both just one off episodes but made me laugh... Reminded me of how TV used to be before the PC/woke/fun sponges became a thing...
