Christmas 2013 was when this new spin off of EastEnders began.

True. Saying that, I quite liked the Carters when they were first brought in, and I liked them right up until the rape s/l, which was where things started to take a ridiculous and very annoying turn. I had initially enjoyed their jokey, happy side and they seemed like a nice, normal, caring family, which was rare by EE's standards. Watching them interact with other characters, eg. Mick with Alfie during the fire s/l, was good.
Shirley as Mick's mum didn't help. Then the misery started, and things just kept on getting worse. Now every other character is sidelined in favour of CarterEnders, and it's got to stop.

Even the Brannings, Mitchells and Masoods are dating people from the Carter family. And even Martin Fowler is torn between his wife and her lesbian lover Tina who is 41 but acts 1.

Indeed, it's very annoying. They couldn't even leave the Kalfie lottery win alone, and had Alfie try to buy the Vic! I know this is only a minor detail, but nowadays even the minor details tend to bug me during CarterEnders.

Mick mistaking Tanya for Linda was just a completely unnecessary encounter and his scene with Peggy made me cringe a bit.

The Tanya part was very, very awkward too. I was glad that they took a back seat for Live Week, it gave Ian and the Beales a chance to really shine.

Tonight saw the birth of a new Carter. One step closer to world domination. If all else fails, they can probably bring in some obscure Carter cousins, a la Moon or Mitchell

If all else fails, they can probably bring in some obscure Carter cousins, a la Moon or Mitchell Oh yes, I can definitely see them doing that once Mick eventually leaves. Of course one of them will turn out to be Shirley's secret son (again) .
