Sherwood.... while I was watching it, I got the impression that Bernice from Emmerdale copied Julia Davis` style of acting. The way she talks and her actions. Maybe Bernice studied 'Nighty Night' when the Emmerdale writers had her in a storyline of getting a salon of her own.

Don't know if it's been mentioned as I CBA reading all the posts... We watched A Theory Of Everything last week as it has just come out on Sky... Absolutely top film and a brilliant insight into the mind of a genius... Very thought provoking... A must see... I watched it the other day. Agree it was a brilliant film. Well done Eddie Redmayne!

The Human Centipede. No matter how many times I watch it I still get off. The Human Centipede 3 (The Final Sequence ) is on Netflix now. It's only got 1 star smiley-huh

a few Donna...now its my turn to recommend something to you from Netflix. Please rent the first DVD of season 1 of 'A Place To Call Home', and tell me what you think. I love that show, and I got hubby hooked on it too. We are up to season 3 now. Here`s what it`s about. Click on the pic again to get a better view. Wendy, I watched the first 4 episodes of A Place To Call Home .....3 last night and one today. That tells you that I really liked it. Very compelling and interesting characters. Just the opposite of Indian Summers. I made an attempt at it and finally had to admit I didn't care about any of the characters. Something else I like about A Place To Call Home......the soundtrack has so much music of that era. That was one of the things I loved about Boardwalk Empire. I'm looking forward to more episodes, but since there's already a season 3, it will take me a while to catch up. I'll probably be able to watch the next 4 episodes next week. As usual, thank you so much for telling me about it. I'd never had known if not for you.

As usual, thank you so much for telling me about it. I'd never had known if not for you. Hooray, I`m so glad you were finally able to see it Donna. I knew you would love it. What`s not to love about it? The views are breathtaking, the characters superb, and the plotlines are top notch. And the attention to detail from the 1950`s is exquisite. From the gorgeous clothes to the amazing attention to detail like newspapers from that era, and even the kitchen utensils. The wardrobe and desogn people worked so hard to make it a success. It`s funny you should mention about the soundtrack being similar to 'Boardwalk Empire', because I thought the same. And I love how they name every episode after a song title too. The episode 'That`s Amore' in (I think) season 2 is just top notch. If memory serves, there is a CD out of the songs from the first season. Not sure on the 2nd season. But the great thing about "A Place Called Home' Donna is that it just gets better and better. Kent and I had the luxury of watching seasons 1 and 2 back to back instead of having to wait for it every week like we do now for season 3. And more good news....season 4 has been confirmed. The cast will be filming soon.

I checked Netflix and the 'That's Amore' episode is on the next disc.....which I'll probably get by the end of this coming week. Yes, they certainly did their homework regarding nailing the period. Productions out of the UK and Australia are so good at that. Incidentally, for the first time I can remember I actually find two male leads in a series attractive. Looking forward to seeing what kind of relationship Sarah/Bridget has with each, and so delighted to now hear there will be a season 4. Looking forward to discussing this addictive series.

donna1 I watched ep 5 from season 3 of APTCH last night, and it just gets better and better. With some dramas the quality drops off sometimes after 2 or 3 seasons....but not this one!!! Isn`t Elizabeth Bligh, the Grandmother an absolute dragon. I really think Noni Hazelhurst does a terrific job of playing her. I wasn`t keen on her as Lil Duggan in 'The Sullivans'. But as the family matriach she really shines. Olivia, James` wife really reminds me of Lady Mary from 'Downton Abbey'. The way she talks, and in some scenes the way she looks too. Further on in the series it will have a similar feel to it of 'Call The Midwife'. You`ll see what I mean later.

sherwood I received 'West of Memphis' this morning, so I watched it this afternoon. Wow it took me hours to watch because there was just parts in there that was just too difficult to watch. And I had to keep putting it on pause because it was so upsetting. I just can`t understand why the boys stepfather wasn`t charged, There was enough evidence to get a conviction in my opinion...DNA at the scene, his violent police record, he washed his clothes afterwards when his ex wife admitted he`s never done laundry before. His need for an alibi. The list is endless. I`ve seen people convicted for much less evidence. It stinks of a cover up.

My hubby was the same way too Donna. He couldn`t get into Peaky Blinders for the same reason you did. It must`ve been an acquired taste................................................................................................................................................................................................... Nice to hear I wasn't the only one who felt that way about it Wendy. Such a shame as I like Cillian Murphy.

I have yet to be disappointed about recommended movies Sherwood. I watched 'Nighty Night' a few days ago. What a huge disappointment it was. I barely made it through the second episode before I took it out my DVD drawer. Not even Ruth Jones could save that piece of rubbish. Last night I watched 'Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'. What a fantastic film that was...as good as the first one. And the dancing at the end was just top notch. I watched the scene again afterwards it was so good. It was so surreal to see 'the Dowager' and 'Isobel Crawley' from Downton Abbey together again in some wonderful scenes. I`m sure both Maggie Smith and Penelope Wilton jumped at the chance to be in such a terrific movie together. I'm so glad you enjoyed 'Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'. Yes, the dancing at the end was wonderful. I thought 'the Dowager' and 'Isobel Crawley' was like an inside joke for Downton fans. Their conversation was similar to some chats they've had on Downton. I wish they'd had more onscreen time together in this film. Also, I love seeing films that feature romance among folks who are no longer kids.

And talking of Maggie Smith. I am so looking forward to watching "The Lady In The Van" It looks excellent. If Maggie doesn`t get at least a BAFTA for this, it would be a travesty. Here`s the trailer for it. www.imdb.com/title/tt3722070/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_2Never heard of The Lady In The Van, Wendy, but sounds like a cute concept. I'll watch anything Maggie Smith is in, so I just added it to the 'Saved' section of my Netflix queue. Thank you.

Further on in the series it will have a similar feel to it of 'Call The Midwife'. You`ll see what I mean later. Yes, the Grandmother is quite formidable...."an absolute dragon" describes her well. I'm intrigued by her relationship with the doctor. I'm at the point in the series where she shows up with a bottle of booze puts it between them and says she'll take the place of his late buddy who used to do that (to test their ability to not drink). Yes, there is something reminiscent of Lady Mary about Olivia. Regarding the series having a similar feel to Call The Midwife in future episodes, I already feel that somewhat now.......because of use of pop songs of that era. I find A Place To Call Home much more compelling than Call The Midwife........more characters I like.

I bet Noni relishes her role as the matriarch Donna. Incidentally Donna, I meant to ask you earlier but forgot. In the 'A Place To Call Home' DVD`s, are there any special features in there? An interview with the cast etc? Maybe in the last DVD of season one?

It wasn't on the first disc of season one, Wendy. I'll keep checking with each one and let you know.
