First the bad news donna1 Netflix will be raising their rates. Now the not so bad news....it`s only being raised by $1. Now the really good news.... it`s for for new subscribers fro 2014 onwards so we`ll be ok. As a nearly 11 year customer as from Frebruary 2016, it`s good that they look after their loyal customers. As I`ve said before on numerous occasions..... I wish other companies would treat their customers like Netflix does. money.cnn.com/2015/10/08/media/netflix-raising-price-standard-plan/index.htmlDidn't realize the increase only affected newer subscribers. Thanks, Wendy. Netflix is amazing......and such a bargain. I can't sing their praises enough.

All I will say is about Bob th eabusive husband,,,,,keep watching Donna Thanks to you Donna, I added The Marigold Hotel 2 to my queue. Will hopefully get it sometime this week. I really enjoyed the first one. I got another Australian DVD in my queue, can`t remember the name of it now. Watched 'Unbroken' Saturday, I can never watch it again - it was so brutal. I knew it was going to be brutal - but not to that extend. You were right to give it a wide berth Donna. Wendy, you found such a clever way to relay a message regarding the dreadful husband without giving anything away. Makes me feel optimistic. Regarding UNBROKEN, I won't go near it. I know me and how it takes me forever to get over a film with really grim subject matter.......especially when it really happened. The Pianist is an extraordinary film (and Adrian Brody deserved the Oscar he won for it) , but I couldn't stop thinking about it for days after watching.

Duh me. Just realized I didn't have to add that bit about avoiding extremely brutal or grim films as you ended your post by saying I was wise to give UNBROKEN a wide birth.

Meant to type wide berth (not birth Ha!). Incidentally, even though I cited The Pianist as a film that I couldn't shake for ages....although it was extremely well done. I should add for anyone who wants to see it, there is no graphic violence. It just has some intense moments.

Donna...now its my turn to recommend something to you from Netflix. Please rent the first DVD of season 1 of 'A Place To Call Home', and tell me what you think. I love that show, and I got hubby hooked on it too. We are up to season 3 now. Here`s what it`s about. Click on the pic again to get a better view. Wendy, I just added A Place To Call Home to the top of my queue. There's a short wait. Not only does it have a terrific Netflix rating, but the imdb rating 8.2. Awesome! Surprised I never heard of this series. Perhaps because it's Australian. American networks/stations now air so much more UK product than they did years ago, but rarely anything from Australia. I guess you already know that. Maybe they think most Americans would have difficulty understanding the accents since they're not as familiar to us as UK accents. Looking forward to watching A Place To Call Home. Thanks so much and I'll definitely report back. Speaking of recommendations, I have one for you......although probably not as impressive as yours. I watched CINDERELLA last night. The most recent version starring Cate Blanchett as the stepmother......directed by actor/director Kenneth Branagh. The first 20 minutes or so are nothing special, but it gets better after that. Not a stupendous film, but sweet. You'll recognize two Downton Abbey cast members. As you've probably heard.....'Cinderella' is played by Downton's Rose and one of her stepsisters is the actress who plays Daisy. I don't know if you watched the mini-series The Borgias (starring Jeremy Irons), but the actress who played his daughter in The Borgias, is the other stepsister. I think she actually would have made a more interesting 'Cinderella', but the one they cast is okay. If you're not tired of this story (I know there have been countless versions, but I still enjoy it), check it out.

Sorry for getting your hopes up. Oh no I got a tickle in my throat again. If you really really wanted to see it ...here it comes *cough*it`s on YouTube*cough*. Where`s my Halls honey and lemon cough drops? Ah that`s better I know you`re not keen on watching stuff online, but the option is there Donna. It really is a superb series. I can`t rate it highly enough. As a matter of fact I`m watching ep 3 of season 3 now while doing some knitting.

You're so funny, Wendy. Appreciate the info, but I'd still rather wait. Often a Netflix 'short wait' isn't too long. Incidentally, last night I tried to watch something from Netflix......a BBC series PEAKY BLINDERS. Really was interested when I noticed Cillian Murphy was the lead as I like him. Unfortunately, I just couldn't get into it......although from what I saw, Cillian Murphy's acting was first-rate.

My hubby was the same way too Donna. He couldn`t get into Peaky Blinders for the same reason you did. It must`ve been an acquired taste.
Just got my two Netflix DVDs today. "The Second Best Marigold Hotel" (which you reminded me was out on DVD), and a Brit 1st season of 'Nighty Night' about a beauty salon. Ruth Jones stars in it that`s why I rented it. Love her.... I loved her in Stella too. I watched the rest of the 4th series of 'Stella' on Hulu+ via Roku earlier this year.

' Like Mike' with my granddaughter . A feel good film about an orphan who when he finds and wears some trainers once owned by a famous basketball player and he plays like a pro, helps to win all the professional matches for The Knights. Then he ends up being adopted by one of the players. All he wanted was a Dad. Aw!
Last week I saw ' Suffragette '. Brilliant film.

We watched A Theory Of Everything last week as it has just come out on Sky... Absolutely top film and a brilliant insight into the mind of a genius...
Very thought provoking... A must see...

I watched uwantmetoKILLhim? and then West of Memphis yesterday on Netlix. The former is a film based on real events and was quite an enjoyable watch if a bit dull but did maintain an unsure feeling of what exactly was going on, who was being truthful and who some of the characters actually were. The latter is a documentary about a really very terrible miscarriage of justice in the US. It's actually quite shocking and hard to believe it could happen.

I have yet to be disappointed about recommended movies Sherwood.
I watched 'Nighty Night' a few days ago. What a huge disappointment it was. I barely made it through the second episode before I took it out my DVD drawer. Not even Ruth Jones could save that piece of rubbish. Last night I watched 'Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'. What a fantastic film that was...as good as the first one. And the dancing at the end was just top notch. I watched the scene again afterwards it was so good. It was so surreal to see 'the Dowager' and 'Isobel Crawley' from Downton Abbey together again in some wonderful scenes. I`m sure both Maggie Smith and Penelope Wilton jumped at the chance to be in such a terrific movie together.

And talking of Maggie Smith. I am so looking forward to watching "The Lady In The Van" It looks excellent. If Maggie doesn`t get at least a BAFTA for this, it would be a travesty. Here`s the trailer for it. www.imdb.com/title/tt3722070/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_2
