I agree Wendy, I much prefer Wizard's song to Slade's! But as I'm getting older (ha! who am I kidding, as I'm getting old lol!) I find I'm getting into all the songs I didn't like when I was young and just wanted the partier songs! But now I'm appreciating song like Stop the Cavalry, I Believe In Father Christmas, Mary's Boy Child, A Winter's Tale etc basically stuff that I would turn my nose up at when I was about 16! I still love the rockin' and poppier christmas songs (e.g. not that keen on Leona Lewis but loved her 'One More Sleep' a year or two ago) but I have an appreciation for the quieter tunes as well now Ooh, hang on, this is a songs you despise thread isn't it? Right-o Xmas song I despise .... er ..... er ...... er ..... "All I want For Christmas is my two front teeth"? and Band Aid! OMG that is a really dreadful xmas song lol! Our Christmas music tastes are very similar Lotty. I can remember in 1980 when "I Believe In Father Christmas' was re released and I bought it with my Christmas money. IMe and my twin sis had an absolutely stonking hi-fi for Christmas that year, and I played that song constantly. I also love the Gilbert O Sullivan Christmas Song and Showaddywaddy`s 'Hey Mr Christmas' as well as the songs you mentioned.

Most songs by Bryan Adams especially Summer of 69. I walked into a shop yesterday and walked out when they were playing that song on the radio, why should I tolerate a song I dont like.

I could never understand why Hall and Oates were so popular in the 80`s. I can`t think of one song that I liked by them...they all sounded so bland. Still does.
A song that always had me walking out if I heard it on the jukebox in a pub or club was Karma Chameleon by Culture Club. I hated them too - and could never see the attraction why their music was so great. To give Boy George credit though - he didn`t give a monkeys what anyone thought of him. When he was heckled in clubs he always gave the hecklers a taste of their own medicine. I had a grudging respect for him for that.

My hatred of Murder on the Dance Floor (or Murder on the Eardrums as I prefer to think of it) is so well documented amongst my friends that even having had the good fortune not to have heard it for years, when it came on during a rare night out last weekend, they all instantly started laughing before I even began my rant.

A song I keep hearing on radio 2 where the guy keeps singing "once I was 7 years old" or something. Bloody annoying

Oi you two... I like that song... So do I, it's one of my absolute favourites of all time. "those were the days my friend , we thought they'd never end.." oh how true those words are, can't believe she was only 19 when she came up with it, it sounds like something written by someone much older. I also like Knock Knock Who's There? and Temma Harbour, personally I think she's got a beautiful voice that is far more melodic on the ears than the caterwauling talentless racket around nowadays.

What I hate are the countless versions of a song that I love - Dance With My Father by Luther Vandross. None of them are any good and - perish the thought - I do not even like the Normandie girl's version either, Celine Dionne. Nobody can compare to Luther who had a voice of pure gold

You young'uns eh? Songs I despise are too numerous to mention, so I'll start with anything at all by Johnny Nash. m1323 Also anything 'whimsical' - so basically everything Paul McCartney ever wrote after leaving the Beatles, (apart from one of his first, 'Another Day' which I loved.
