I agree with Oldnjaded. It's purely because they fancy the actors. Anyone seen the thread calling for Zeedan and Todd to get it on or Aidan Connor to be bisexual? I await Oates' announcement of a hot male, gay romance on Corrie. There's obviously a massive market for it and how many accounts will these obsessives create to ensure the actors win? Twitter is also awash with these Robron fanatics. Say whaaaaaaat?!! Seriously? I've seen the Aidan Connor bisexual thread but Zeedan and Todd?? Just where the hell has that idea come from?! They exchanged two comments around Christmas. Something to do with the way something was cooked i think at a party scene at the Bistro. Details are hazy. Anyway, it was nothing but certain people on DS started going on and on about it. Not quite in the "Aidan Cooner" is bisexual league but not far off. McDean in Hollyoaks. Remembered another m/m pairing that had an obsessive fanbase though to be fair, that was a good storyline and the actors did have chemistry.

Awwwww. to_vomit Shippers aren't even original are they? Chryed worked the first time because it was different, any fool (except a demented shipper) could see that if they did this with Todd and Zeedan (who's never shown any indication that he's gay anyway!) they would be copying EE and would quite rightly be called out for it.

I'm not at all surprised it is mainly females, I'd have expected that. I remember reading some Blakes 7 slash fanfiction when i was a younger and discussing with somebody (a gay man) that it had obviously been written by somebody with no idea of what two men would actually do in bed together, without going into details, the logistics of the positions just made no sense and were physically impossible unless double jointed and using some kind of trapeze! However, with the rise of the internet - and all you can find on it - these gay fanfictions written by women are a bit more "anatomically" cohesive now. If the guys were good looking - then yes - there's still the fantasy aspect of the guys themselves. Gay men generally tend to enjoy the "physical" aspect to it - although some do get as bad as the women with regard to the "deep & meaningful love" stuff. I don't mind if the soap at least tries to keep some semblence of "reality" to the characters within the storyline - but this Robron stuff is so blatant in its "objectification" - and so blatant in its objective to appeal to this vote-winning audience - that the whole thing has just turned into some cheap fanfiction-fantasy! m0918 smiley-angry

Dear God, people really will cling to anything, won't they? m1323 The briefest of interactions can spawn a 'shipping' monster. Reminds me of the X Factor mob. The same shiz is given to them over and over again and they're right there, rabidly adoring it like it's something fresh and new and never seen before free-rolleye-smileys-323

Loved Collie's rant, epic stuff matey!
Right, here's my two-penneth's worth.
I walked away from DS two years ago and haven't missed it one jot. My ideal was firmly one of it being entirely their loss, not mine.
That's the thing with this new-fangled internety machine, there's heaps of other forums out there. No idea why anyone would stay on a forum that only serves to annoy and frustrate them. Let alone one that doesn't appreciate them. I always get the impression the place is dying on the bones of its arse anyway. The posting quality has long gone and it's like the local gay youth club for sconches these days.
On the odd (increasingly rare) occasions I do look at it, it just confirms to me that I made the absolute correct decision. I've no desire whatsoever to frequent a place overrun by 14-year old irons constantly wanking themselves off over every fictional male character south of thirty-years old. I wouldn't last five minutes if I did.
I'm neither homophobic nor pro-gay, truth is I couldn't give a rat's arse what your persuasion is, not until I start to get it rammed down my throat. Then I most certainly do have a problem with it and will never shy in saying so.
So walk away guys, you know it makes sense.

It's an addiction UQ. It's like when you see a car crash and you can't help but stare over at it. Plus we love to complain and moan. Soaps are also addictive and I guess that's why they remain among the most watched shows on tv. I see the Brendan Brady AP thread is still going. He left Oaks years ago.

Yeah I get that it is an addictive pastime OJ, I hear you mate, but it's a bit like being addicted to the ale and only being able to use the one alehouse. DS isn't the only gig in town, plenty of other places to grab your "fix" lovely. Quantity gobbled up anything resembling quality in that place a long, long time ago. I'm actually amazed that anyone with a double-digit IQ continues to frequent the place. Whereas I like to think we enjoy quite the opposite over here. 75 members, most of whom are pals, a really nice mixture of serious, comedic, and anorak fodder, and the best bit of all, no arguments, egos, or tantrums. I joined this forum on day one and I've yet to witness an argument on here, let alone anything remotely resembling a falling out. Nobody suffers faux outrage and takes offence on behalf of others, nobody gets reported, and nobody feels bullied, ganged-up upon, or harassed. In fact we (me especially!! lol) say some utterly terrible things on here, dreadful unspeakable things, yet we respect each other as people enormously. In fact, we're pretty much everything a good, enjoyable forum should be in my opinion. I'd sooner push cocktails sticks into my balls than go back to the snake pit.

The problem for me is - that I actually WANT to talk about the storyline - I want to talk about what I think is WRONG with it. I do stick my neck above the parapet to get my point across - but my god its tedious with all the flak you end up getting for it. fighting-230 I don't actually hate the characters - I HATE the effing storyline..........with a PASSION m1323 Oh hello by the way - some of youse might know me from t'other place. But the sad truth is - whether we like it or not - Robron are storyline for eternity now. No producer will be brave enough to suffer the social media abuse that these fans will give them if they don't get the "Romance" they want. Hello Sheepie, lovely to see you over here I love your posts over on DS, their always sensible, enjoyable and accurate, bloody hell are they accurate! You ought to be a champion darts player - you never fail to hit the bullseye smiley-biglaugh . It is impossible to discuss the storyline from a normal point of view, the merest mention of Knobron either apart or together has those shippers flocking like a moth to a flame, and they always always go the same way. The thread gets hi-jacked completely. Tuesday's discussion thread had four , yes four pages full of fanfiction type comments smiley-angry . It is ridiculous and they seem too blind, stupid, ignorant or all three to see it. One bit back at me last night why should I get to say I don't like them but they can't say they do? How about because I'm not littering up every single thread for posts on end about it, driving everyone berserk for starters?! If this story was about any other characters, I'd care and be interested in it, even though it's contrived and retconned beyond belief, as it is, thanks to who is involved, I seriously couldn't give a damn and I dread any scenes as I know the threads will be unbearable afterwards. These idiots must be doing wonders for gay people, making them look like insane, mindless, screaming pre teen fangirls, incapable of proper conversation or thought and manically obsessed with fictional characters, not very pleasant ones either free-rolleye-smileys-323 .

I have never understood this on DS, why can't Robron fans just post their views on an appreciation thread, which makes them happy and other posters happy who can choose not to read them if they so wish. The only appreciation threads I read tend to be on here.

Kate Oates panders to the Knobron fans.
Knobron seems to be the biggest same sex couple since Adam and Steve.
