On the plus side tonight, hardly any Buster, Shirley or Dean.
Jessie was excellent tonight. Babe gives me the Heebie-jeebies.

A 'hit' ordered by Phil no less as Dalton had threatened him - so Phil won there too, completely unbelievably.
Yes, they basically merged the two characters when Grant left and lost much of the subtlety of the both characters in the process but of course we see it on screen with Phil.
Now i don't mind that in itself. They had to do something to move Phil on without his 'other half' when Kemp chose to leave and it would kind of make sense that Phil had to get more 'actively' involved with the thug side of things now he didn't have a younger, madder, fitter, army trained 'dog' that he could wind up and set free to do his dirty work for him.
Phil was the brains when they were a twosome, he then had to become the brawn as well. He then started being the brains and manipulating other people to be his thugs for him (like manipulating Dennis to kill Dalton and then Jonny Allen) again and i'd have been okay with them carrying that on, making him into a jack Dalton figure that is too old, overweight etc to do stuff himself but has an 'Empire' and lives on fear of his reputation (which can be backed up with others doing the nasty work on his orders, real nasty work, killing people, even kids) but they don't want to make him 'that' bad. Also they want to make him seem scary physically in his own right even though it is ridiculous opposite much younger, fitter men like Carl White, Charlie Cotton or even Andrew Cotton.

In all honesty even Max shouldn't have much of an issue in dealing with Max. Same goes for Jack, a younger, healthier ex-copper who ran a gym. And yet Phil pretty much beat them all to a pulp, apart from one lucky punch Jack managed to land that one time which sent Phil flying in the Arches. Even then, they couldn't let it rest and later had Phil physically besting Jack once more.

I used to think she was an unnecessary addition to the Carter clan but I take that back now. I'm really intrigued as to WTH she's playing at; really can't work her out. What does she get from playing both sides against each other? Does she relish the role of mediator so much that she'll willingly prolong the animosity just so she has a purpose? I really want to know!

I'm passed caring who Phil owns after Sharon inexplicably forgave him all his shitty behaviour last year. I was convinced she was playing the long game and it just ended up being a crappy love triangle. That was the final straw.

I really want to know! Being 'needed' i think. She seems to desperately want to be part of a family but can't do it in a 'normal' way. Being the confidant to everybody makes her the keeper of secrets - she can use that in a nice way to be everybody's friend or she can use it to scare and blackmail people as we saw with Shirley last year before the truth of Mick's parentage came out. She is Archie Mitchell in another form, a different gender, sexually, romantically and maternally frustrated but very clever and mentally manipulating the family, even Stan and Sylvie, for decades. Yet she has obviously been abused herself when young, not even given a name for crying out loud and always second best to Sylvie looks wise and probably much more. I love her, think she is fascinating played by a fantastic actress. I genuinely want to know more about her and don't think getting answers will disappoint, just enrich her.

Totally agree with the BIBs. I'm really thrown by her behaviour towards the Dean problem. Tonight she appeared to be nudging Dean to go; getting that hoodie to chuck the brick through the window and then stressing that Dean would have to expect that kind of similar treatment if he was going to stay on the square...it was like she was subtly hinting for him to sod off.

I know i said no spoilers unless hidden so have to circumspect (can't do spoilers in my phone) but it seems Babe might want to buy Shirley's share to get an official/legal foot in the family and business.
However i think she'd do it anyway. She clearly likes being in control, she has no chance of a family of 'her own' and she will use any means necessary.
I don't see why she doesn't love Shirley, think she has done what she thought was best in the past but she happily lied about Phil being near death and the Police being after her to get her to go on the run last Autumn.
She divides to conquer I think whilst making everyone think she is 'Switzerland'. It is like the office gossip that is everybody's friend. GeTting the dirt, passing it on to their best mate that would come unstuck if people started talking directly.

Maybe I am spoilt because I am seen Steve McFadden do drunk but Jessie is a good actress but really can not do drunk.

I was convinced she was playing the long game and it just ended up being a crappy love triangle. That was the final straw. You would think Sharon and Phil would be a great couple due to the fact that they are two of the show's most recognisable faces and they share all this history, but for some reason it is not translating well at all onscreen. The spark is still there between Steve McFadden and Letitia Dean but the writing for both characters has just been so damn poor for years now. I get the feeling that TPTB are biding there time with these two as a married couple in the hope that Ross Kemp will return.

Actually I think Phil has been bested by Jack once. But it gets ridiculous that Phil keeps winning all the time. Also I have never seen Philth in a proper fight, just punches. Of course Phil would easily be bested by Lee Carter, Kush, Charlie Cotton, Andrew Cotton and even martin Fowler in a fight. Phil is nearly 55 years old, overweight and looks more like an OAP every year.

That Max should be prescribed Bromide in his tea, and be forced to drink it. No-one is safe. Didn't he say "Kat never says No" just before she saw the light ? And why isn't he being questioned as part of the Jimmy Savile enquiry is what i'd like to know ? He's a dirty so and so, but has a cute backside

The writing for Sharon has been appalling ever since she returned. Occasionally she flickers back to life but there's so much disconnect between who she was and who she is now. And the history with her and Phil is never really referenced properly. She's known him for over 20 years, why on earth would she waste her breath asking him to change. Bah! Welcome btw, were you on DS?
