Such sadness. I thought she was a brilliant actress and the character of Morag was excellent, criminally underused as well.
She will be missed.

So sad, Cornelia was a wonderful actress and will be sorely missed, some lovely tributes, especially from the 7 Network in Australia.

Very sad to hear this. Very sad. Unfortunately the current crock of producers will probably not care as they only care about the current storylines and characters.

Certainly off air her passing has been marked. Ray Meagher said there had been a minutes silence for her at the studios.
Will they kill off Morag? I’m not sure I want them to. As CAEF says the current writers probably wouldn’t do her justice.

Thanks for the link aussielad. I`m still so heartbroken about Cornelia. She's been a part of my life since my teens in her 'Young Doctors' days, then 'Sons and Daughters', then 'Home and Away'. She had a screen presence that can never be matched. Her time as host in 'The Weakest Link' was remarkable.
Cancer is such a cruel unfair disease. It isn't discriminatory in that it takes rich, poor, old and young. My heart truly aches for her family who had to watch their beloved Mother waste away day by day in front of their eyes. I went through it myself with my beloved Babes, and can truly understand their grief, and no doubt a small amount of relief that she is no longer in pain, the guilt for feeling that way, and the heartache that they will go through for many years. I understand it all.
I'm sure Ray Meagher is heartbroken today - as is Judy Nunn who played Ailsa. And I grieve with them. The only small crumb of comfort to me is that Cornelia knew she was loved by fans all around the world. It takes an exceptional person indeed to have that kind of talent. God speed to a wonderful lady, she will be truly missed. ♥♥

It is so terribly sad WendyBee. And it has been touching to see all the tributes to her that past & present H&A cast members have been posting online. A devastated Ray Meagher has mentioned that they had a moments silence for Cornelia before filming began onset yesterday & Ch7 included this message at the end of last night's H&A episode:
"In loving memory of our friend and colleague, Cornelia Frances 1941-2018"

Thanks aussielad. I have no doubt that Ray is heartbroken today. I`m guessing he will give a eulogy at his beloved friend's funeral. And if he does - it will likely be outstanding. I hope Bevan Lee is invited to the funeral too. He is another who will be gutted today.

I wonder how long Ray will remain in the show? He seems to be considering his future in the show, and when you have to consider your future, you must be thinking of calling it a day. The Martha Stewart retcon, the direction of the show etc. And now Cornelia's death.
H&A was always the better show than Neighbours until 2009.

A nice little article on Ray Meagher in the Daily Telegraph today (checkout the video at the end):
Home and Away’s Ray Meagher missed out on a number of huge movies roles but there’s no regrets
For 30 years, Ray Meagher has been Alf Stewart on the small screen, but despite being one of our most beloved and unique actors there’s a reason he hasn’t been seen on the big screen since 1989.
“The last film I did was Luigi’s Ladies,” he told Confidential.
“In the 30 odd years I’ve been doing Home and Away I reckon I can genuinely count the number of jobs I’ve been definitely offered that I would have liked to have done on one hand.”
Meagher was wanted for the role played by Bill Hunter in Muriel’s Wedding.
“They didn’t have the money in place at the time, *because I need to give Home and Away 14 weeks’ notice to get out to do anything, and by the time they did I couldn’t do it,” Meagher says.
Another was to play Jack Rennie in the Lionel Rose telemovie. (The role went to Tony Barry).
“I would have loved to have done that because Lionel Rose was such an icon and I remember watching that fight as a kid and he was amazing, he was one of our indigenous superstars,” Meagher says.
He might have missed out on those, but neither has affected his career.
Meagher even landed a role in the London cast of the stage musical Priscilla: Queen of The Desert in 2010 and 2011.
“A bloke from the Queensland bush who can’t sing or dance doing a musical in the West End? C’mon,” he says.
He’ll be attending the *Logies on the Gold Coast this weekend where he is nominated for Most Popular Actor — but his wife Gilly won’t be accompanying him.
“Gilly would rather swallow a tonne of bricks than go to the Logies,” he says.
“She says ‘that’s your work’, we go to things with mates.
“She says ‘you go and then you don’t have to worry about me being there and not knowing a whole heap of people’ so she’s very comfortable with that.”
Meagher’s latest role has seen him transform into Ray Coptus, a mall cop who takes it upon himself to make sure Aussies are getting the best deal on their prepaid mobile plans in a series of spoof ads for Optus.
With the clip racking up almost 600,000 views on Facebook and YouTube already, Meagher has officially gone viral — something he’s already worried about.
“Do I have to see a doctor about that?” he quipped.
Ray Meagher is Ray Coptus

Sorry Ray but the role of Muriel's Dad was perfect for Bill Hunter. They even let him have his real first name in the film. 😁

I saw that Ray is up for a silver Logie award. He`s won a gold, but not a silver. Good luck Ray. It would be nice - especially during H&A`s 30th year. We are more than halfway through the year and H&A don't have much else to brag about so far does it. I`m hoping '800 Words' will do well at the Logies this year too. Fingers crossed both 'George' and 'Woody' win something.

And it was nice to see him dedicate his win to Cornelia Frances. This is Ray's speech for anyone interested: Logies 2018: Ray Meagher dedicates his win to his late Home and Away co-star, Cornelia Frances
Corny, we know you're up there looking down with a champagne.

The only nomination they had was for Erik Thomson (George) for Most Popular Actor ie he was in the same category as Ray Meagher! Also, 'A Place To Call Home' had a number of nominations, but I don't believe they won any Logies either. And the Silver Logie for Most Popular Actor goes to RAY MEAGHER! Well done, Ray.
