Overall, I think the show has become a must watch. A dramatic shift in quality since Season 1. Good stuff. I'm looking forward to Season 3. Well I only started watching a few weeks ago and I have to say I actually enjoyed series 1 from the start although a lot of people have said they struggled with the first episodes as they ought the quality was poor. has a third series been announced?

Can we discuss non-Marvel related shows too? I was hoping to discuss other shows like the X-Files and Lost with you guys . Or are you gonna make a seperate thread for that? Probably best to give them their own thread. There is already the American Series thread so you can post in there.

But it seems Marvel/Disney have a strategy in place to ensure all Marvel properities get a fair chance on TV and cinema. I see. I've been watching the show from the start. It's good to finally have someone to talk to about the show! There isn't the same enthuiasm for it on DS.

I just don't get why it isn't more popular, I am lucky in that my two Besties both watch it so I get to chat about it with them. That is good news, perhaps a third series may entice more people to watch. Or it could be that it's just heavily pirated. The Marvel films are huge so you'd expect more people would want to watch the TV show.

I expected more people to watch it purely because of its links to the Avengers, which is Marvel's most successful franchise. I think the early buzz wore off because the early episodes of Season 1 were being criticised and people lost interest. It's a shame, but I don't mind. I just hope the show gets a good run (5-7 seasons) and the show fulfills its potential.

The fans can be a pedantic bunch, if the series isn't faithful to the comics they will throw their toys out of the pram. For me as I don't read the comics I can appreciate it much more. It's the same with me and Games of Thrones, as the series keeps changing this the less I enjoy it.

True. Hardcore fans do nitpick a lot. I am a bit of a comic book reader myself, but it doesn't bother me if they don't adapt the comics word for word. As long as they don't stray too much from the source material, I don't see the problem. The thing is, when you adapt a comic into a live action show or movie, you realise certain things need to be changed to make it fit the format of the medium. What worked in a comic book doesn't neccesarily work in a TV show/movie and vice versa. But fans expect everything to be EXACTLY the same as the comics, which isn't possible.

Forgot to ask earlier, is Agent Carter any good? I didn't really bother watching it because it's a spy show like Agents of SHIELD and I thought it'd be too similar. I'm not interested in watching another show like Agents of SHIELD. So does it offer anything different? If so, then I might watch it.

I have only seen the first episode and am in no rush to watch the second. As it is set in the forties and is primarily focusing on one protagonist and her sidekick rather than a team I think it can differentiate enough from AoS

You guys seen the season finale yet? I'm guessing Scrabbler has if the "Science Biatch" tag is anything to go by . Maurice, how about you? A great episode I thought. An epic finale for the season. It really felt like any character could die at any moment. And Poor Coulson lost his hand . I'll talk more about that later. First things first, I need to talk about Skye's wicked mother, Jiaying. I did like how they started her out as this benevolent mother figure who wants to protect her people (aka the Inhumans), but then we saw a more bloodthirsty side to her when she killed Gonzales with a crystal. Maybe the reveal was too quick and should've happened more gradually, but I still liked it. For much of the season, there's been a bit of a question mark on who the Big Bad really was - was it Sunil Bakshi? Was it Cal? Was it Whitehall? Ultimately, it was Jiaying. The only disappointment I have is that we didn't get to have a Jiaying vs Whitehall confrontation. He is the man who made her into the revenge-driven villain after all, so it would've great to see Jiaying exact her revenge on Whitehall. Whitehall's death was a bit of a letdown to be honest. In regards to Cal, I like that he was given a redemption story in the end instead of going down the Grant Ward route of no return. I did feel bad for him when Coulson had him pinned against the wall with his SUV and forced him to face the truth that Jiaying wasn't the same woman she was before Cal "put her back together". And that she was manipulating him for her own bloodthirsty ends. In the end, Cal was a victim. I also really like the actor Kyle MacLachlan and love his campy performances as they perfectly suit the comic book tone of the show . The scene when he flirtiously replies to Simmons, "Careful. I'm a married man." cracked me up . Also, the final scene of the episode was quite sad when Skye visits Cal at his new vet business and he doesn't remember her due to having his memories wiped (damn that TAHITI Program!). Let's hope he is back for Season 3! Back to poor Coulson and his missing hand . I thought that whole scene on the ship was cool when Fitz trapped Gordon with the quantum technology. "Science biatch!" has to go down as the best line in TV this year . When the crystal dropped from Gordon's hand, I genuinely feared that Fitz or Mack would die. It was a great edge-of-the-seater. If it was a different TV show, Coulson would have caught the crystal and saved the day with not so much as a scratch, but I liked that he lost his hand because it shows the show isn't afraid to fatally injure or kill characters. I'm guessing Coulson's going to have a cybernetic hand in Season 3?! Maybe he can ask Deathlok for a spare hand?! Generally, I thought the episode had a great balance. But the Grant Ward segments seemed too deattached and isolated from the rest of the show. And therefore I felt it was the most underwhelming parts of the episode. Is it meant to be a filler storyline? This whole thing with Bobbi and Agent 33 just came off so contrived and shoddy. Why are we meant to care that Bobbi "betrayed" Agent 33 to Hydra? Why do we care Agent 33 wants to get "closure"? Why is Ward so concerned with helping Agent 33? It was boring and had no place in the episode. I also don't get why Bobbi didn't just apologise to Agent 33 and admit her betrayal, instead of letting herself be brutally tortured by Ward. Why didn't she just say what they wanted to hear? She would've saved herself and the viewers a lot of trouble! The death of Agent 33 at the hands of Ward was amusing if not a cruel twist of fate, but unneccessary really. I can't saying I'm liking Ward's direction as a character. When they first revealed him as a villain, I thought we were going to get a nice slow-burn redemption story, but it's the opposite. He's now passed the point of no return after getting Bobbi shot (is she going to survive?). Hunter will be out for his blood and I don't see the rest of the team ever forgiving Ward now as it only confirms their belief that he's an evil, psychopathic bastard. I don't get what the writers are trying to achieve with Ward - is he a villain or is he a anti-hero? They can't seem to decide. He seems to have gone from being the leading action hero of the show to being a second-rate villain who is only used for filler storylines. Although, I did find his ending interesting and there's potential there for a good storyline in Season 3. It seems Ward is hunting after the HYDRA leaders and he now has his own team of henchmen . I got the distinct feeling from that scene that Ward is trying to replace his SHIELD "family" with this new team. It seems he is projecting his familial needs onto them. Poor Ward, he really is screwed up . Man needs counselling! Anyway, I thought the episode was a great blend of drama, action and shocks. So I give it 9/10. How about you guys?

Fitz is one of my fave characters and he really did pull off that scene, it was class. When you think about it they did build up the Coulson thing with ensuring Mack had an axe ready but I thought it was a shock moment. I did like how Ward was responsible for Agent 33s death but yes that did feel a bit disjointed. what did you think of the shock ending?

A shame Nick Fury didn't pop in like the Season 1 finale. Or Maria Hill. Yeah, looks like we won't see Cal for a while. He seems a bit of a redundant character now Jiaying's dead and the Inhumans have been defeated. But I'm sure they could find a storyline for him in a future season. Me too. I didn't think they'd actually make Coulson lose his hand. It was a welcome shock. Poor guy needs a holiday. So far, he's died, come back to life, had his memories wiped, and now lost his hand . Oh yes! I can't believe I forgot that! I loved the ending. Some nice teases for Season 3! Firstly, I need to talk about Simmons being swallowed up by that creature in the cage . Is she dead? Or has she become part of the creature? The latter seems more likely as I don't think they would kill off Simmons like that. I think part of Season 3 may be about trying to seperate Simmons from the creature and stop it from killing her. Finally, there's the crystals that we saw underwater in the ocean . I was pretty shocked about the implications of that. It seems the crystals are going to cause a worldwide pandemic, leading to the deaths of thousands and leading to more thousands to transform into Inhumans. That will mean thousands of new Inhumans for SHIELD to deal with, very neat . If that is the case, then Cal might have a role to play in Season 3 because he is the only one alive, who understands the biology of the Inhumans, so it might not be long before Coulson calls on him for help.

I don't like Cobie whatshername who ruined HIMYM. However a cameo for Nick Fury is always welcome. In fact I wouldn't mind seeing some of the Avwngers turning up at some point. I hope she is not dead, I quite like Gemma and think there is a lot more they can do with her character. I think she's far too important to be wiped away in that scene. I imagine she will soon turn up but will behave a bit oddly. That will be good though, we know the Inhumans are having their own movie in a couple of years so will be interesting to see that develop. I wonder if Quake aka Daisy aka Skye will turn up in the movies soon?

Yes, I don't think they would kill off Gemma so quietly. She deserves a bigger death than that. What is that creature in the tank anyway? Have they explained what it is?
True. It would be cool if Skye was allowed to cameo in the Inhuman movies. It'a a shame the Agents of SHIELD cast don't turn up in Marvel movies. I would've liked Coulson to turn up in Avengers 2.

I imagine scheduling conflicts pay a big part. Although I thought there were far too many characters crammed into Avengers 2 anyway so I wasn't too fussed that they didn't appear. I would quite like to see more characters from the films appear in the series. I dont one think they did.
