I am not sure if I ever saw the pilot, may check it out. It boasts a reasonably good cast with Philip Glenister, Tony Robinson and Elizabeth Berrington so I am surprised that it hasnt reappeared at some point. It wasnt necessarily a classic sitcom but was light and entertaining.
UK Gold should show more treats like this rather than churning out the same old classics every day.

Y`know what I`d love to watch right from the very beginning onwards? Doctors and Holby City. I somehow doubt if BBC iPlayer would ever show those from the beginning. Shame I agree I'd like to watch HC from the beginning

ITV 3 run some lovely old series which I watch avidly. Where The Heart Is The Royal Doc Martin (love Martin ClunesI would watch others on other channels if they weren't two hours long. Foyles War Rosemary and Thyme I don't think they make many like that any more. Holby maybe. I am very fond of ITV3 i must say. It is pretty much my default channel. Love all the Detective dramas like Morse, Lewis, Marple, Cracker, Frost etc. They're perfect background viewing. Quite enjoying Wycliffe presently as i never watched it first time round so it is something new, even though it is old!

Shame I agree I'd like to watch HC from the beginning I managed to tape HC first 3 seasons when UK Gold repeated them some time ago. And then Sony repeated seasons 7-11 a couple of years ago. So it's only 4-6 that i haven't seen since transmission and I didn't think much of those seasons anyway - dominated by chrissie's sex life and otter and Maternity. Meyer and alex's exits storylines and parts of Kellar Killer were the only decent things around that time. I started taping Casualty about 6 episodes after it started in 1986 through to season 11 so can wallow in that whenever I want.

Chrissie's sex life was pretty busy so I can see how it dominated storylines, lol. I did watch some of the Sony episodes. Really enjoyed them

The Sony repeats were great - picked a really good time to start up with them again. I still think that Season 9 (2006-2007) is the strongest year we've ever had. Even the characters i didn't like had strong material like Mark and Chrissie dealing with Trisha's death and then him becoming addicted to Cocaine and Kyla losing Harvery and Max. Plus them turning jac into a villainess, her relationship with Joseph and then Charles, Faye coming in, elliot;s bereavement and kids going off the rails, Thandie, Abra, Maddy, faye's introduction and the sublime Dan Clifford.

I was born in 1982 and grew up with Raggy Dolls, Sooty and co and Button Moon, simple shows which did not encourage you to dress up as Cheryl Cole by the age of 8. I can remember Emmerdale when it was a Farm and the 1980s Neighbours mania. Raggy Dolls had an awesome theme tune, as did gummy bears! Yeah I remember paying to watch Neighbours in primary school at lunchtime! Paying to watch it? Wow, what kind of racket was your School running? I missed a trick. I lived within walking distance of my School (inusual, it had a large catchment area of about 6 villages) and used to have about 4 of my friends follow me home every day to watch it in our 5th year when it started. My Dad got a real shock when he took a few days off during half term and was invaded!

My earliest Neighbours memory was the fearsome Max Ramsay. Dark curly hair, tall and shouty. Scared me to death when I was 4. I don't remember ever seeing Max as a child but I did buy neighbours early years on did and quite liked his character. His wife was boring as hell though. Max was fantastic. Loved him at the time, loved him when i rewatched the dvds recently. I actually think he is a much better father than Jim actually for all his bluster. Jim is very passive aggressive and judgemental despite spouting liberal views constantly.

I've been really enjoying the BBC2 afternoon repeats - despite the somewhat baffling order they've shown HiDeHi in.
Just Good Friends starts on Monday which is an all time fave of mine. I waas 12 when it started, taped it then (on Betamax) and watched it again and again. I think I still know it off by heart and have got the DVDS since.
Other sitcoms which i will happily watch over constantly are Yes Minister, YPM, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads and The Good Life
Sci Fi, doctor Who (of course), Blakes 7, The Avengers, The prisoner, Star Trek and though it seems odd to include 90s shows, Ultraviolet, Twin Peaks, Babylon 5 and especially Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel
Soaps - got all of Dallas, Dynasty, Knots Landing, and most of Sons and Daughters and watch all reguarly. I have some Santa Barbara (wish i had more) - a real guilty pleasure. Also Casualty upto (he late 90s and several seasons of Holby City.
Drama, drama, Edge of Darknessn Bird of Pray, Upstairs, downstairs, West wing, Secret army (just finishing that again), Kessler, dennis Potter shows, 6 wives of Henry 8th, Edward VII, Edward and Mrs Simpson
Really loads of stuff, i've only scratched the surface!, My dvd collection is extensive to say the least!

I have got quite a bit of old stuff on DVD:-
Kids:- Scooby Doo, Where Are You?, Mr. Benn, Chorlton And The Wheelies, Dungeons And Dragons, Into The Labyrinth, The Hardy Boys And Nancy Drew Mysteries
Grown-Up Stuff: Doctor Who (Classic Series), Robin Of Sherwood, Tenko, The Professionals, The New Avengers, At Home With The Braithwaites, Watching, This Life, 'Allo! 'Allo, Are You Being Served?, Fresh Fields / French Fields, Rising Damp, Widows, Blake's 7, 24, Sliders, Spooks, Wonderwoman, Charlie's Angels, Hi-De-Hi, Torchwood, Inspector Morse, A Very Peculiar Practice.
Watched Secret Army and Colditz when they were repeated on UK Drama as I didn't see them initially. Tried the first episode of original Poldark when they repeated that on UK Drama and found it painfully slow.
Never saw By The Sword Divided on original transmission but I do like the English Civil War as a time period and would like to give it a try if it ever got repeated.

I remember watching Just Good Friends as a young child. Would be nice to see it again. Love The Good Life too, pretty sure Tom, Barbara, Margot and Jerry were into swinging. For me, I love sitcoms such as only fools and horses, one foot in the grave, vicar of Dibley, 2.4 children, the upper hand and goodnight sweetheart.

I often watch 1988 Emmerdale Farm and 1994 EastEnders on DVD. I never tire of them. Yes Emmerdale was very strong in the late 80s. Was it Summer 88 that Jackie died? People talk as though nothing ever happened and it was a waste of time pre plane crash but that is so not true. I came across the Emmerdale 'Best Of' video they released for the 21st (i think) anniversary at Christmas in my bedroom at my Parents and really enjoyed watching it. 94 was a high point for EE too, that period 94+97 (let's term it the David era for want of a better description) was probably the strongest after the first 3 years. I got some of it taped when UK Gold repeated it approx 10 years ago but don't have much.

Can't wait to see Just Good Friends again, I loved that show. That and Dear John both by John Sullivan are both just as good as Only Fools
