But women are entitled to have babies and go on maternity leave you can't force a no pregnancy in contracts that is just wrong. It's against the law MG so you've got nothing to worry about! Regarding this storyline though, I'd like to know which airline has let a heavily pregnant woman fly on a 24-hour flight?!?!? If actresses should be banned then female teachers, nurses, doctors, police women, women who work in offices and supermarkets and shops and dentists should be banned but if that happened then there wouldn't be the next generation especially in 70 or 80 years when we are all dead that is why babies are born in real life and soaps.

But its wrong to do a no pregnancy in contracts. Aah, pre - 1975, the good old days. Imagine the scene....A woman walks into her managers office "Hello Sir, I'm delighted to tell you I'm pregnant" Manager "Well I'm equally delighted to inform you......YOU'RE FIRED!!!!!" lol-045

Your mum probably had to take time of work when she had you. What do you have against babies?

Thank goodness the law has people's backs! As Lotty said, you've got nothing to worry about, MG! And if someone WERE to try and fire someone for being pregnant, they'd have a sh*tstorm on their hands. Well deserved, too, with the way some employers are! Ah, modern times! Don't you just love them?

What a shocking return in last nights episode. It was like she'd forgotten how to play the character. They should sack her and either recast, or better still kill off the character along with her impending offspring.

I might... might... watch the episodes that she's back for. As loathe as I am to give EE any more views. Sadly I am not as strong as you J B. I said I was going to stop watching, but I can't quit and go cold turkey. I am still hopping mad about the Kaffy return and the bloody block story telling. With reference to Coronation St, I think there was something in the water at Media City, every female was in the pudding club. Either that or Stuart had something up his hat. smiley-yikes

A truly dreadful actress, her latest stint proving that beyond all doubt, hopefully she'll now be killed off screen.

MyLauren's return was a complete success by every measure. The most important measure being that she left again.

Y just caught up with thread.
Just have to agree with Lotty. Whilst it is a fantastic gesture of good will for Josse to have come back for a couple of weeks during her maternity leave (as Rosie Marcel has also done in Holby City) that is no reason to denigrate other women that don't or need to take longer.
Some women have no choice but to start their maternity leaves early due to being very sick during pregnancy, possibly even being under threat of a miscarriage if they don't rest. Other women are fortunate enough to be very healthy through it and work up until they are due to drop. Equally afterwards, some women take longer to recover (c-sections are a major operation with a couple of months recovery time for example) as well as needing/wanting time with their baby. Also, some women might not have child care in place to be able to just leave their baby to go back to work for a couple of weeks half way through i not everybody has family round the corner.
In this particular case, Lauren was kind of needed - people have been asking wth Lauren doesn't do anything to help Max from the moment he was arrested. Kim wasn't really. How do we even know that she was under contract all the time she was away? Her contract might have ended whilst she was on maternity leave and then TPTB might not have offered her a new one until they had a plot line for her. We simply don't know and it isn't really any of our business.
I'm the first one to criticse actors (and Producers who let them) who take lengthy sabbaticals each year to do other work or take all their holiday in one go. I do feel that actors should commit more than that and the often ridiculous reasons they give for the characters absences (phil going to prison for 2 months practically every January, Shirley disappearing in a huge plotline every Sept only to return in December) damage the credibility of the show.
But Meternity Leaves are very different to that and to be fair, most female actresses don't take advantage. Not many just fire out one baby after another, spending more time off the show than on. Generally most will choose to leave the show completely should they fall pregnant a second time or decide that they want to be with their child(ren) more.
And as an aside, there are still plenty of employers in the 'real world' who make life extremely difficult for any woman who dares to fall pregnant or has young children in a 'constrictive dismissal' type way. Although there are laws in place to protect, many employers do still try it on (things like not giving them back the same role they had prior to maternity leave, not being co-operative with time off for Hospital appointments or flexible working hours) so many just give up and resign. I have also been on interview panels where somebody has lodged objections to any woman in the 30s on the grounds that they probably have young kids or will want a baby soon. I've also had men tell me that they wouldn't have hired a particular woman because they had kids as it makes it more difficult for them to work late. All illegal of course but hard to prove.
So women have it far from easy in this area, despite the Law.
