But lots of women who work have children and plus they need the money so they shouldn't be sacked when they go on maternity leave especially if their partner cheats on them and they weren't expecting to be a single mum or their husband/fiance/boyfriend dies. My personal assistant is on maternity leave and even though its hard because I don't have set days for people to work with me on but its ok and she is coming back next year in May because she needs the money especially with 3 kids and her first two are at School. You have a personal assistant smiley-yikes How important and busy are you??

I think it's perfectly reasonable to expect a woman to give birth and be back at work within the hour.
The trouble is they really milk it these days, and like to laze around in hospital for days on end receiving flowers and chocolates.
This whole "maternity leave" thing just seems a huge con so birds can skive off work and watch 'Loose Women.' Large rotund women seems to cope with work quite ok. That's why loose-fitting dungarees were invented.

When a woman has a baby a baby can't sit up by itself and a woman might breastfeed her baby and a baby needs to be with its mother for the first few months of its life not left with people who can't breastfeed or who isn't the baby's mum and the baby might want a cuddle of mum of someone who carried them round for 9 months and who recognises the voice of their mum.

I've heard all that too MG, but I honestly think new-born babies are just bone idle mate.
If you refuse to pander to them and fuss around them, they'll soon learn how to open a tin on beans for themselves and pop a couple of slices of white into a toaster.
Mine did. Two hours after giving birth to the lad, me and the missus went to Spain on holiday and left him with the cat for two weeks. I had to give him a thick ear when we got back as well, as he'd completely ignored my instructions to tape Match of the Day for me.
As I said, bone idle.

If babies spent half as much time putting a days graft in as they do sucking on their mother's norks, we'd be living in a very different society, Morms.

Breastfeeding??
Our kids had to go thirsty I'm afraid, I'd already drank the buggers dry.
I wasn't a complete heel mind, I'd leave a can of Lilt next to their crib for them instead.

I'm just surprised it wasn't beer! In all seriousness though, kids are horrible and I do not trust them. Especially April off of Emmerdale. And Pearl off of Eastenders. They know what they did.
