Ian is being such a bar steward, how on Earth he reckons the “Caff” is worth £38k when he paid Ali £2k for it I will never know!

I had a dream last night about Reg Cox, and there was actually a scene before that which was the first ever scene but ended up on the cutting room floor.
Cannot undertsnad why Reg was only said to be 58 when he died. Arthur spoke of him as an old man who almost finished his time. 58 is not past it. Reg looked more like 70.
In 2019 58 is way too young to die, but in 1985 it was still considered young to die at.

He was 58 and not in great health living in a damp cold bedsit. Although the NHS has existed since he was 20 I suspect he rarely bothered them. I also suspect he was a alcoholic and that wouldn’t have done him any favours. A beating from Nick might not have been all that harsh to finish him off.

Phil Mitchell is now the same age as what Reg Cox was in 1985.
EE went through a major revamp 1992-1995 I think. A few original locations disappeared such as Pete Beale's flat (last sene in Jan 1994), the original car lot, the old community centre, the original look of the Vic and the original style and look of the cafe. And George Street was intriduced in early 1994. Also 1992-1995 saw the exit of 4 more originals - Pete, Sharon, Michelle and Arthur (save for a few eps in 1996). Sharon and Michelle would later return.

Don’t forget the jazzy theme tune 😂

Watching the 1991 episodes, I notice how more and more nasty the Mitchells are getting. At first Phil and Grant seemed cheeky lads who socialised with people but now Phil is getting more dismissive to Arthur who he seemed to like at first, and Grant is now having Clyde under his thumb. And Grant has put Eddie Royle in hospital.

Cannot wait for 1992. I want to see the episode again where Arthur says "I dont want tha flaming leaflet" and throws it across the room, and the scene where Pauline and Mark are chatting about something and she says "i have given you 24 years already" and Mark later rides off on his motorbike.
In the Arthur and leaflet scene I remember watching the trailer for that episode just before the original episode broadcast.

Michelle Gayle nearly gave her screen father an eyeful as she probably didn’t have anything on under the towel and he was definitely having a look!

QUITE EROTIC HAVEN OVEREAT QUICHE NIT EARTH NOVICE QUIET
Also did anyone spot a young Tanya Franks (Rainie) playing the wife of the conned tenant?

Re-watching Eddie Royle's murder is interesting, it played slightly differently to what I remember, interesting my mind must have been playing tricks and confusing it slightly with something else. The knife attacker with the denim jacket it seems so obvious now that it was Nick

I’m trying to work out how Nick got out, did the deed and then climbed back up and inside without Pete or Dot hearing him.
It seems so tragic, Eddie made enemies but it seemed like he was trying to mend fences.
Did Michael Melia want to leave? It did feel a bit rushed, all over within 6 weeks or so.

I just got the feeling they wanted Sharon in the Vic and to murder Royle and create more drama was their way of doing it.

People make a big fuss about the jazzy theme music but the music has already gone a bit upmarket with some jingle bell noises being made.

1990 and 1991 were not the best years IMHO for me but 1992 was when the show had fully recovered from the 1988-1989 original cast exodus and was good again. By 1992 Den had been gone for 3 years and the Mitchells were well and truly established by then.
Den Watts was so iconic an dpopular that it took a couple of years for his absence to become accepted.
