Same here, I am close to turning off. The only thing keeping me watching is that I do actually like the cast as a whole, there are some great characters. It's just the show itself is just so messy. And it shouldn't be. EE is sooo frustrating at the moment. They can do some really interesting stuff but there's so much Carter overkill and the scraps everyone else gets are insulting. It's got to the point where it seems even those who like the Carters are getting sick of seeing them. It would be different if they were written well, it's just we seem to have tons of repetition with them. Why say it once if you can say it a million times.

Even the Brannings were not as used as much as the Carters when Berkwood ran the show. DTC has turned the show into The Carter Show, no denying it. Everything since December 2013 feels like it is a new show that is a spin off of EastEnders called The Carter Show with guest appearances from EastEnders. Really it is EastEnders so they should focus on all families not just the Carters.
DTC is shoehorning every non Carter character into the Carters somewhere. He has made Shabnam and Dean Wicks have a secret baby together so that the Masoods connect with the Carters. And when Kathy returns for good, no doubt they will have her best buddies with Linda or Aunt Babe.

It would be different if they were written well, it's just we seem to have tons of repetition with them. Why say it once if you can say it a million times. This! It's really annoying watching (e.g.) Mick and Shirley make up/fall out for the hundredth time yet supposedly, in the background unseen to us, Roxy and Charlie were getting closer and actually falling in love. Now I'm not saying I like the Roxy and Charlie storyline but perhaps, just perhaps, if we'd seen more of them fighting their feelings etc we might be enjoying and understanding the storyline a bit more and 'got' it. But thanks to the Carter overkill nothing else gets a look in. I'm saying this as a Carter fan but dear God, even I can see that there's too much of them nowadays. They don't have to figure in nearly every single bloody storyline Plus DTC is chucking Shirley down people's throats when she splits viewers opinion ('marmite' character) and some people can't stand her - is that really a good move or is it DTC's vanity/ego getting in the way as (IIRC) he developed her in the first place. I like seeing more of Shirley and she was wasted under Newman but come on, it's just too much now!

Having Shirley look for her of all people, oh the irony!
Ya know if this plot was more Masoods driven then Carter I wouldn't find it so grating, Zainab needs to return even for a brief stint.

It is ridiculous if any of them got access in the first place. Let alone track her down I am betting its some silly contrived plot with Pam, Claudette etc. And of course it will end up being all about Shirley/Carters like every other plot.

Love Mr D's Shirley Week thread on DS! DS with their usual lack of humour have moved it into 'Soap Games' *roll eyes* No doubt some po-faced git complained, that's the trouble with a lot of DS nowadays - it can be a humour by-pass zone. Cracking thread though, love it

Same issue I had with the Brannings I find that I am accused of being "easily pleased" if I say I do like the Carters They need to finish this hideous rape storyline off and bring the Carters back to how they were at the beginning. They were a delight the. They also need to split the storylines around because I'm sure Danny and Kellie would like a break the cast is fantastic and the episodes are excellent when there's a good mix

I've also noticed DJ's getting a hard time from hardcore Shirley fans on there. "You've overstepped the mark" - it's called "humour" and I suggest they look it up *rolls eyes*

Spot on as per usual Maurice. I love how they moan and bleat about the bitching about Shirley but they have no qualms about being very nasty about Sharon
It's so f**king ridiculous
