Just because it was mentioned on the 'Good Ol' Days' thread... Anyone tried the 'Name every Buffy episode' on Sporcle? I had a go at it earlier and got 140/144. I forgot one episode from S3 and three from S7. I usually fall down on S7 and sometimes S4. The only seasons I can recall perfectly are S1, S5 and S6. www.sporcle.com/games/Thalia/buffy_episodes

I really wish I could, but I'd honestly be terrible. I'm fairly good at naming episodes for seasons 1-3, then get sort of hazy after S4's The Harsh Light Of Day.

Well, can't really blame you (or anyone!) for zoning out when it comes to S4

Just tried it again and got 142/144!! Annoyingly, I remembered all the S7 episodes easily (when it's a season I've watched the least number of times) but got all but one on both S2&3

Just had a quick look and it's actually really hard. Gave up after 8 minutes on 67. That said i do have a headache and was keeping half an eye on the election coverage.
Might try fresh tomorrow.

Just found this thread and weirdly have started watching Buffy from scratch on Netflix. Brilliant series which I had already watched but in a piecemeal fashion and I don't remember the first series at all. I do remember Spike though 'swoon' and just want to get to when he arrives.
Watching the pilot and the first series I'm kind of surprised it got a second series. It has the humour and I'm enjoying it but it lacks any sophistication at all and feels like a cbeebies version of the show.
Still I'm loving it.

Well season 1 was onviouusly finding it's feet (as all weries do) and in a weird way they had to play it 'safe' re the teenage audience (which is what the Netwrok thought it would get) before Whedon could start pushing the boundaries more in season 2 and 'grow it up' somewhat. I'd say surprise/Innocence and Angel sleeping with Buffy and then turning evil is the start of that and had it not been well received critically and by the audience we'd have ended up with a very different show which probably would only have lasted a couple of years.
I tried that game again and could only get to 115 - proof i think that alcohol is rotting my brain because i know i'd have been find a few years ago. Like most, better on the early seasons though i couldn't remember 'Never Kill a Boy on Your first Date' even though i knew I was missing the Annoying One's introduction. Some of them i'd have got given a few more minutes like Amends but others like Potential and End of Days i think I'd have struggled to remember even if I'd had an hour. Others, i could remember the plot but not the title - had a real blind spot on 'Life Serial' for some reason.

Having got to episode 7 in series 1 I feel you can see a change from episode 6. Episode 6 is The Pack when Xander turns nasty and he is brilliant at that. Episode 7 is Angel and it's an excellent episode, really dark which is how I remember Buffy.

Loved this show growing up, both, although Buffy more.
Spike was awesome, played brilliantly by James Marsters.
My favourite season was probably 5 but I enjoyed 4 as well.

I've heard very few say they liked season 4 much, it usually ranks low on a 'rate the seasons' poll. I personally quite like it (and would certainly rate it higher than season 7), the only ep I'm not fond of is Where The Wild Things Are because I really really didn't like Captain Cardboard.

Where The Wild Things Are is a terrible episode! The only things it has in its favour are the Spike/Anya appearances and Giles's singing.

Although when I decided to give the series another chance a couple of years ago, I stuck with it and Dawn grew on me towards the end. I never realised how good the series got after series 4 and am tempted to watch the series all over again now it's on Netflix...

Dawn, she initially irritated me to no end, but towards the end of the show she grew on me a little (apart from the part where she kicked Buffy out the house but I digress lol). My favourite big bads were, in no particular order, Evil Willow, The Mayor, Angelus, The Master, Spike (though I don't really count him as a big bad) and The First Evil. My least favourites: Adam (first and foremost) and Glory (who for some reason just got on my nerves).
